De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) Print Centre has been using its equipment to produce 1,600 much-needed handbooks and essential print work for NHS staff working at Leicester Royal Infirmary (LRI).
While campus remains closed the Print Centre is now back in production two days a week to support the NHS with any COVID-19 print requirements.
In addition to handbooks providing NHS staff with useful information and guidance about the LRI’s facilities the team has also printed posters, floor stickers, information booklets and cards.
Amanda Thorley, Print Centre Manager said: “The Print Centre has been opening for production two days a week to support the NHS. We are trying to maximise the production capacity whilst ensuring safe distancing for the few of us that are going in.”

She said: “To ensure social distancing guidelines are adhered to, myself and two or three members of my team produce the work between us and then leave it at our Estates Services building for staff from the LRI to collect.
“We have an agreement that all orders are collated over the course of a week and sent through in one batch so that we can maximise the production capacity in the time we have.”
Further to helping the NHS, the team is also helping Midwifery students by printing practice books for final year student midwives to help them with their studies.
Amanda said: “We have had some really good verbal and written feedback thanking us for our support. I am hoping that going forward, we can look to build good business relationships with University Hospitals of Leicester (UHL).
“We are so pleased and proud to be able to support our local NHS during these challenging times.”
