DMU using WhatsApp to offer Clearing places

For the first time, De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) is inviting students to discuss Clearing places through the WhatsApp messaging service.

To give potential students the best possible opportunity to take advantage of course places available through the Clearing period, the university is adopting the hugely popular messaging platform.

WHATSAPP

WhatsApp is a messaging service which allows users to chat directly or as a group, sharing text, video, audio and pictures. Globally it is used by 1.3 billion people, connected across the planet.

The use of the service will allow students from around the world to contact DMU, where a team of staff will be on hand to give information, advice and guidance on securing a place through Clearing.

If places are available, staff will be able to advise on the best way to secure them, which may be through WhatsApp or by calling the DMU

The service will be available from 7am on Thursday, August 17 – the same time DMU Clearing phone lines open on the day A-level results are released across the country.

The number to use to connect to DMU through WhatsApp is 07970 655 800.

And the DMU Clearing hotline is (0116) 257 7000.

Karla Juerges, Schools and Colleges Recruitment Manager for DMU, said: “WhatsApp is easily one of the world’s most popular communication platforms.

“This is the first time we’ve used it and we are one of the first universities to offer students the possibility of making Clearing enquiries through it.

“Clearing is a brilliant opportunity to find the right course for you and hopefully using WhatsApp will just make it easier for more people to make the most of the opportunity.”
