Graduates celebrate the end of an era at DMU

Graduates have been remembering their funniest, most emotional or proudest moments as they celebrated the end of an era at De Montfort University Leicester (DMU).

A memory tree created by DMU’s Alumni department and put on the stand in the Graduation Village was hung with cards on which graduates have recorded their best memories of life at DMU.

Whether it was making lifelong friends or remembering a life-changing #DMUglobal trip, the cards were testament to the great time that graduates have had. The best will win a prize. Here are just some of their memories:

“All of the experiences, people and opportunities have been unforgettable and priceless!”

“Meeting my flatmates and realising the girls sitting next to me, nursing hangovers and eating cereal for dinner, would be lifelong friends”

“I can’t pick one, it was too good! I loved all of the student ambassador shifts…even the 6am ones. And I loved sharing the stage with all of my dance friends!”

“Summer school in China for two weeks. Flying out with 20 students I didn’t know. At the end of two weeks we all became best friends.”

“Making amazing friends on my course – I’d never spoken to them before we were put together for an assignment”

“Knowing you have the ability to achieve anything you want to”

“Meeting my boyfriend in our second year. If I hadn’t been 10 minutes late to a practical, we’d never have met.”

“Being made captain of DMU Netball 1st team!”

“Every second of my time at DMU was worth it! Today, I’m proud to say I’m a DMU graduate.”

Today saw the final ceremonies of DMU’s summer graduations, with students from Leicester Business School’s undergraduate finance degrees and postgraduate programmes and De Montfort Law School in the afternoon.
