DMU Bollywood Society is going to be wowing the crowds at this year’s Leicester Mela, due to take place on Sunday.
Dancers Devina Tailor, Aashni Sawjani, Tabassum Korobi will be on the Community Stage at the Mela, which is next to the Clock Tower, at 4.20pm.
Thousands of people are expected at Leicester Belgrave Mela Festival on Sunday (Aug 21st) in Gallowtree Gate, Humberstone Gate, Leicester Market and at the Clock Tower.
The annual event will offer a glittering mix of live music, dance, food, fashion, entertainment and Indian culture. And visitors will be able to experience the UK's biggest shopping bazaar.
Aashni Sawjani said: "This is the first time we are performing for this event and from the looks of it it's a big scale one. Definitely excited to perform on such a platform. It will also give us a bigger platform to showcase the societies talent".
There will also be a special performance by The Rajasthan Heritage Brass Band from Jaipur, India and international Rangoli Street artist Janak Chauhan will be creating a unique Rangoli artwork.
The DMU Bollywood Society’s performance will be a four-minute piece comprising the following songs: Dewani Mastani, Sun Sathiya, Dance Basanti and Tu Meri. It has been choreographed by Khushi Gami, Akruti Shah and Devina Tailor, both students going into their final year at DMU.
The Leicester Belgrave Mela is an annual summer festival based around South Asian Art & Indian Culture. The day comprises of live music, dance, food, fashion, arts and culture.
