The British Aphasiology Society International Conference - 16, 17 and 18 September 2024 supported by the Tavistock Trust for Aphasia.
This year the British Aphasiology Society (BAS) International Conference, supported by the Tavistock Trust for Aphasia, will take place at De Montfort University in Leicester. It will be a hybrid conference, with options for in-person and online attendance. To attend registrants must be BAS members. Should you wish to become a BAS member please click here.
The conference explores three strands: aphasia theory, clinical practice and future directions.
The conference programme spans three full days and we are excited to announce that the seven keynote speakers who have agreed to present within the theory strand are:
16September
- Aura Kagan Executive Advisor: Strategy, Research and Education Aphasia Institute
- Professor Argue Hillis
17September
- Swathi Kiran, Associate Dean for Research
- Professor Chris Code
- Professor David Howard
18 September
- Professor Cathy Price
- Matt Lambon Ralph, Director of the MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit
The practice strand of the conference offers clinicians the opportunity to talk about how they work with people with aphasia. The strand will focus on presenting rationales for intervention, describing therapy techniques and measuring impact. We are keen to encourage current clinicians to present their practice, with mentoring support available for presenters, if they would like it.
The final strand, future directions, will allow both researchers and clinicians to present their thoughts or research about what aspects of aphasia management might be relevant in the future and provide information to inform our future practice.
The costs of the conference are:
- Early Bird (deadline 26 July): 1 day £80.00, 2 days £155.00 and 3 days £230.00
- Conference attendance (after early bird deadline): 1 day £100, 2 days £180.00 and 3 days £260.00
