An ally is someone who takes action to support groups they’re not part of. Being an ally is not about a ‘label’ – it’s more about what you can do to support others.
The discussion will focus on how and what it means to be a disability ally and how you can best support individuals with disabilities. There will be tips for creating an inclusive environment and how to provide support to those who choose not to disclose a disability.
The informal session is a safe and non-judgemental space to find out more and there will also be an opportunity to ask questions. All staff are welcome to attend.
If you are unable to attend, information will be available after the session on our dedicated DHM microsite.
We may also have a short survey for people to complete before the session.
This event is free to attend and open to all DMU staff.
Please contact the DMU Events Office on eventsoffice@dmu.ac.uk to book your place or if you have any questions or special event requirements.
