This presentation, part of our Prison and Probation Research Series, will introduce the work of “Doing What Really Matters” (DWRM), a social enterprise aiming to increase opportunities for further and higher education for people in prison and on release.
DWRM offers personal support for people to engage in higher level study and encourages them to develop aspirational goals. It aims to break down the barriers to successful delivery of Higher Education in prison, which we have experienced from both sides of the fence, and works with universities to offer a choice of degree courses to students in prison, focusing on provision of study materials, tuition and participation in a learning community. And when people are released from prison, we support them to attend the university campus to complete their degree and embark on a successful career. All of our work comes from a place of kindness and to instil hope for people leaving prison through creating Cultures of Acceptance within the institutions we work with.
Join us for this insightful seminar chaired by Dr Victoria Knight to learn more about “Doing What Really Matters” which will be followed by a Q&A session.
