Description

New dimensions in Interdisciplinary Lifelong Wellbeing Research

Lifelong wellbeing is an overarching research theme promoting interdisciplinary research across all faculties and researchers at DMU. The World Health Organization (WHO, 2020) defines health as “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” Wellbeing is about feeling good and functioning well and comprises an individual's experience of their life; and a comparison of life circumstances with social, cultural norms and values. Lifelong wellness is achieved by a healthy balance of physical, mental, and social health.

Drawing on a wide range of expertise on interdisciplinary research from the four faculties at De Montfort University, our first roundtable discussion will examine innovative interdisciplinary research themes and plans for collaborative research funding applications. Our roundtable discussion aims to promote innovative interdisciplinary research across the university, bringing together our strengths, diversities and knowledge creation capacity. Our vision is to facilitate and develop transformative interdisciplinary research on Lifelong health and wellbeing across the four faculties by capitalising our research expertise, regional, national and international collaborations.

Professor Raghu Raghavan, Professor of Mental Health at De Montfort University, Director Lifelong Wellbeing Research, Director of Mary Seacole Research Centre and Co-Director Leicester Centre for Mental Health Research (LCMHR) will be chairing this discussion and be joined by the following panel members from De Montfort University.
