How do you get your foot through the door in an industry dominated by males? How do you get heard and lead a room full of white males? What challenges do you face when you come from a different background to everyone else in your industry? And what is it really like to be in a position of leadership as one of the only Asian women traders?
Brought up in a town just outside of Leicester, raised by working-class immigrant parents from Tanzania and India, Shreena knew very little about the fast-paced world of trading or the world of finance in London. She knew there was a whole world waiting to be explored and at 18 she took a backpack and travelled around the world before heading to university to study Economics.
Shreena spent three years of university working as an intern in various industries, before deciding on the career that provided the most thrill and adrenaline -- investment banking. In 2013 she left investment banking to start a new path in Asset Management, where she quickly learnt how to thrive in a small company but have a larger voice for change.
However, at 25, six weeks into her new role, Shreena was diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer.
In her talk, Shreena will talk frankly about the challenges she has faced personally and in the finance industry as one of the only Asian women traders in leadership for the second biggest asset management company in the country.
