Reaching the Global Goals – Integrating Sustainability into Higher Education and Research

As a university, DMU is committed to sustainability and to working towards the aims of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). DMU is the only academic impact hub for Sustainable Development Goal 16 in the world, and the only United Nations (UN’s) Academic Impact SDG hub in the United Kingdom. Throughout the conference, we will explore the role of Higher Education and Research in achieving the United Nations SDGs.
Streaming live from the UK Pavilion at Dubai EXPO and DMU Leicester academics and students will share their work and experiences through a range of sessions including discussion panels and short lectures, which will demonstrate how DMU places sustainability and the SDGs as a cross-cutting strategic objective.

DMU is delighted to be taking part in Expo 2020 Dubai from October 2021 - March 2022 as a founding partner of the UK Pavilion. This comes at a pivotal moment in our 150 year history as we open our first international branch campus, DMU Dubai.
Expo 2020 Dubai is the latest in a series of worldwide events beginning with the first World Expo, the iconic Great Exhibition of 1853, held in the Crystal Palace in London. The last, held in Milan in 2015, was the largest tourist attraction in the world that year.
We will have a continuous presence within the UK Pavilion throughout the six-month duration of Expo 2020 Dubai. Our staff, students, and alumni will be in attendance, showcasing the incredible innovation, research, and benefits of DMU to a global audience.
