This event is a celebration of Leicestershire's rich design ecosystem. It provides practical advice and support to connect design practitioners, and outlines new peer support networks. It also provides practical and case study information on the way design might be used to underpin innovation in manufacturing sectors, as a way supporting their growth and exporting activities.
Our event will comprise 4 key activities:
- Design as an Industry - Examination of Peer Networks and DICE for design practitioners in supporting growth and excellence. Covering aspects of diversity, inclusion, mentoring, and productivity support (Jim Willis, Bulb Studios, Dan Barber Design Leicester, Emily Hancock DMU)
- Design as an Innovation Process - Examining how product design can support innovation processes within manufacturing (Guy Bingham, Emily Hancock, DMU)
- Design as Local Specialisation - Examining the impacts of Design Leicester and Leicester's Design Season (Bill Hayley Sharpe, James Burkmar Leicester CC, Carl Quinn Solvers Studios)
- Design as a Collaborative Process - Examining design as a culture for economic growth and place making. (Carl Quinn, Solvers Studio).
