Description

As part of our UNSDG16 commitment join the Global Peace and Transitional Justice Research Group for a special conversation with the authors of Voices from Srebrenica: Survivor Narratives of the Bosnian Genocide, as we discuss the importance of survivor testimony in preventing genocide denial and revisionism. We will also be hearing about the practical and ethical challenges of working with survivors; survivor trauma & resilience; the experience of those who return to Srebrenica and the need for genocide education programmes.

About the Authors: Hasan Hasanović, is Curator at the Srebrenica Memorial Museum and a survivor of the Srebrenica genocide and Ann Petrila is Professor of Practice and Coordinator of Global Initiatives at the University of Denver’s Graduate School of Social Work.

The event is being chaired by Associate Professor Kim Sadique, Head of Community and Criminal Justice Division and Chair of the Global Peace and Transitional Justice Research Group at De Montfort University. An introduction to our UNSDG16 Global Academic Hub and commitment to promote Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions will be provided by Mark Charlton, Associate Director of Public Engagement.
