DMU for Life are excited to launch the Leicester Polytechnic Alumni Network, hosted by Vice-Chancellor, Professor Katie Normington.
We are delighted to invite you to the official launch of the Leicester Polytechnic Alumni Network, hosted by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Katie Normington.
As someone who graduated from Leicester Polytechnic, before it became De Montfort University (DMU), we want to give you the opportunity to reconnect with your memories and fellow classmates, as well as connect with the university of today and of the future.
We recognise that the name isn’t the only thing that’s different. The physicality of the campus has changed significantly. That infamous paternoster in the Fletcher Building that most of you would have known is no more. Some of the courses you would have studied won’t exist anymore. Some of the nearby pubs such as ‘The Magazine’ and venues like ‘The Princess Charlotte’ that you may have frequented are gone altogether.
But in place of all those things is DMU. A thriving city campus and university that has evolved from you and your experiences. It is your university and we cannot wait to welcome you back.
At the launch event, you can expect:
• Complimentary beverages and seasonal-themed food
• A special welcome from our Vice Chancellor, Professor Katie Normington
• A brief talk from a fellow Leicester Polytechnic alum and a current student of DMU
• A peek into the past with special items on show from archives
• The opportunity to reminisce and make new connections
And it won’t end there. We want the Leicester Polytechnic Alumni Network to be there for you all year round to connect with. We encourage you to use this launch event to tell us how you would like to stay involved with in the future, and there will be an opportunity in the evening for you to write down your suggestions and ideas.
