DMU for Life speaker series: Rotary4Foodbanks – How the Leicester Rotary Club is responding to the Covid-19 crisis.
Join us on Wednesday 25 November at 11am, to hear from the Parmdeep Vadesha, President of the Leicester Rotary Club.
The Leicester Rotary Club is one of the UK’s oldest Rotary clubs established in 1916. As President, Parmdeep’s latest Rotary related initiative is Rotary4Foodbanks, which raises money for donation to local food banks. So far, this initiative has raised an inspiring £8K. Unfortunately, food banks are set to come under increased pressure as the response to the Covid-19 crisis will inevitably lead to job losses and reduced incomes.
Parmdeep will be joined by Beatriz Serra, a second-year International Relations and Politics student at DMU. Beatriz is from Madeira Island, Portugal where she found a passion for volunteering at a young age. In the Scouts she was taught to ‘’always help others’’ and this sentiment has followed Beatriz to Leicester, where she moved to begin her studies at DMU last year.
Beatriz, along with several other students, played an instrumental role in Parmdeeps’ food bank initiative, helping to collect and deliver crucial boxes. They will both be discussing volunteering and charity in the current climate alongside their experiences to date.
You can watch live on the offical DMU for Life YouTube channel.
