Solitaire-Townsend_pic
Solitaire is one the UK’s leading professionals engaged with supporting businesses, government and individuals to adopt more sustainable practices. She will talk about the principles that underlie her work and strategies for effective change that are both evidence-based and inspiring. Solitaire will also introduce the Good Life Goals, a set of attainable actions that can be taken by individuals to contribute to the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Solitaire has been a passionate changemaker for more than 30 years. As co-founder of Futerra she advises governments, charities and brands including Danone, Lancôme and Vodafone on imagining a better future, and making it happen. With Futerra offices in London, Stockholm, New York and Mexico City she admits that making the world a better place is a damn good business plan.

You can watch her TEDx talks online and read her in the Guardian, Huffington Post, Forbes and more often as @GreenSolitaire. Solitaire was named ‘Ethical Entrepreneur of the Year’ in 2008 and more recently was Chair of the UK Green Energy Scheme, a member of the United Nations Sustainable Lifestyles Taskforce and a London Leader for Sustainability. She is a co-founder of ‘She is Sustainable’ which encourages young women into sustainability and purpose-driven careers. Her new book The Happy Hero - How To Change Your Life By Changing The World is out now.

This session is being offered as part of the module Leading Change for Sustainability, within DMU’s Masters programmes in Energy and Sustainable Development and Sustainable Building Design.
