Personal profile

Dr Milan Gyanwali joined De Montfort University as a Lecturer in Business and Management. Prior to this, he worked at Solent University (July 2018 – September 2019) and the University of Leicester (September 2015 – October 2018) where he taught a wide range of subjects including strategy, management, business ethics, organisational behaviour, marketing and human resource management. He has designed dozens of training packages and facilitated hundreds of training programmes for prospective and existing entrepreneurs. His business training packages include business creation, business development and management, saving and credit, entrepreneurship and human resources development.

Milan completed his PhD from the University of Leicester in 2018 in management. He studied a successful business in the recession of 2008-09 and investigated growth phenomena. Milan’s main research focus lies on small and medium enterprises – business start-ups, growth and development, growth strategies and entrepreneurial behaviour. 

He has taken a lead role in establishing and operating businesses including Rajanee Industrial Service, Human Resource Training Centre, Hamro Multipurpose Cooperatives Limited, Barahi Saving and Credit Cooperatives Limited, Samadhan National Daily and Everest Times. Everest Times publishes a weekly newspaper in Nepalese language. He is also a promoter of a bank.

  • SME Growth in a Recession – investigated management strategies and their impact on business performance during the recession of 2008-09.
  • Problems and Prospects of Industrial Development in Pokhara Sub-Metropolitan City – looked at internal and external barriers of industrial enterprises and identified feasible industries in the study area.
