Professor Deborah Cartmell is Director of the Centre for Adaptations.  Her research interests are in Shakespeare and literature on film. She is currently co-editing the international journals, Shakespeare (Taylor & Francis, 2005-) and Adaptation (Oxford University Press, 2008-) and completing a book on Adaptations (Blackwell).  She is a general editor of Adaptations (Methuen), a series of books that looks at individual literary texts and their screen adaptations and a founding member of the Association of Adaptation Studies.   Her teaching interests include screen adaptations, Shakespeare, Renaissance poetry and children’s literature.  

Research students are invited in Sixteenth and seventeenth century poetry, Shakespeare and Literary Adaptations.
