International Welcome Week
International Welcome Week will take place between Monday 18 and Friday 22 September 2017.
The week is designed to help you get to know the city, meet other students and settle in before the start of your studies!
International Welcome Week is free and includes:
- Social events
- Tours around the city and the DMU campus
- A day trip to Stratford-upon-Avon (Shakespeare's birthplace)
- Information sessions and practical advice on looking for jobs, healthcare, campus safety, opening a bank account and adapting to UK culture

Get picked up from Heathrow
Free coach pick-ups from London Heathrow airport (LHR) will operate during the weekend before the start of International Welcome Week. Book your place now.

Frequently asked questions
When will know the full timetable for International Welcome Week?
The programme for the week is currently being organised. Prior to the start of Welcome Week, we will email the programme to students who have made a booking.
When can I move into my accommodation?
If you have booked a place in DMU-sourced accommodation you should be able to move into your room from Friday 15th September onwards. If you are EU student, your contract may not begin until 22nd September - if so, please contact your hall directly, who should be able to arrange for you to move in a week earlier so that you can attend International Welcome Week.
Can I choose which sessions to attend during the week?
International Welcome Week is relaxed and you can choose which sessions to attend. In addition to trips and social events, the week will also include information sessions on living, working and studying in the UK - we recommend coming along to as many of these sessions as you can!
What will I need to pay for?
All the activities and trips during International Welcome Week are free. We provide buffet food on the opening night, although you'll need to buy your own meals on other days.
Will you pick me up at the airport?
We provide a coach pick-up service from London Heathrow airport (LHR) the weekend before the start of International Welcome Week. If you are arriving at another time or at a different airport, you will need to make your own travel arrangements. There is information about how to travel to DMU from various UK airports. We may also be able to assist you to arrange a taxi pick-up, if required.
