The 21-year-old is now heading back to De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) to complete her degree - and says the skills she's developed at Barratt Homes will help her final-year studies and career.

Taking her place as marketing assistant at the company's North Midlands division is fellow DMU student Ryan Kenton, who is looking forward to gaining hands-on experience during his placement.

Marzia said: "I applied for the internship with Barratt Homes because I wanted a new challenge.

"It has been absolutely fantastic. I've been given a lot of responsibility and consequently learnt so much more than I thought I would.

"Barratt Homes' Future Talent team gives interns a lot of help to continue their progression and everyone at the company has been amazing.

"I've been able to put what I've learnt at university into practice and this real-life experience will help me go forward into my final year and benefit me when looking to start my career."

The 21-year-old said: "I applied for the internship as I wanted somewhere I would be given responsibility and be able to learn new things.

"I'm looking forward to putting the theory I've learnt into practice within a big company and gaining on-the-job experience to take forward."

John Dillon, managing director of Barratt Homes North Midlands, said: "We are committed to developing raw talent and I believe companies such as ours have a duty to provide these kinds of internship opportunities.

"The rewards are not only one-sided, however. As a company, we also benefit from the knowledge and creativity that students like Marzia and Ryan bring to the table.

"I'm delighted to welcome Ryan to the team and would like to thank Marzia for her hard work over the past year."
