Your DMU Labs
New for this academic year, DMU has introduced Your DMU Labs a service to allow you to securely access the resources you need to assist you with your studies remotely from home.
Physical PCs in labs and open access spaces on campus that are not in use for face to face teaching are now able to be accessed from anywhere.
Logging onto the machines remotely will give a similar experience as being sat on campus using them and you will be able to remotely launch all the applications on that desktop.
Physical lab machines will be available for remote access between 7.30am to 12 midnight seven days a week (priority will be given to timetabled sessions during core teaching hours).
In addition to this, we are also providing 24/7 access to virtual applications and desktops that can be launched in a web browser. This access will be for most of the teaching software titles available at the university. Please note, not all applications are available on the system yet, these are being added daily in preparation for the start of term.
You can access Your DMU Labs using a web browser or by downloading a client to your Windows, Mac or Linux desktop. When you log in, it will be clear which resources are the physical machines and which are the 24/7 virtual applications.
When you access the system, the PCs and applications that appear for you will be based on your programme of study.
In order to securely access the remote solutions, you will need to first register for Multi Factor Authentication (MFA). This is a simple process that can be achieved using either a mobile app, an SMS text message or a phone call.
This allows you to prove your identity before you access the system and once set up, you will only need to authenticate in this way every 30 days.
Read our guidance on setting up MFA, accessing and using the remote solution.
Please note, a separate solution for accessing specific DMU Macs and their specialist software titles is to be announced very shortly, please watch this space for further information.
For any queries , please make sure you have checked the guidance pages first. However, If you have issues accessing the system, or once signed in you don’t have access to the correct resources or have technical issues launching resources please email firstname.lastname@example.org
