Thinking of applying to university?

What you learn in books is just the start. Exploring your university options means you are taking the first steps towards a new future where you can study a subject you’re passionate about, enhance your employability, gain independence, enjoy new experiences and find the people who will support you to achieve things you never thought you could.

At DMU, we aim to help every student reach their goal, whatever that might be. The majority of our undergraduate and postgraduate students enjoy an innovative approach to learning, known as block teaching. This allows you to focus on one subject at a time, with more regular assessments rather than lots of exams at the end of the year, giving you a better study‑life balance. DMU is one of the few universities in the country to offer the block teaching method.

With block teaching, you’ll have more time to learn your subject in depth and really get to know your course-mates and teaching team. You'll also benefit from a simple timetable with space to enjoy all that university life has to offer such as sports, societies, meeting friends and discovering your new city.

No matter what your background is, here at DMU we welcome all applications. To make sure you get fair and equal access to higher education, when reviewing your application, we consider more than just your grades – we consider any challenges that you may have faced in your education and the potential effect this may have had on your qualifications. To do this we’ll look at contextual information from your UCAS form.

The DMU Careers Team has been named the best in the country, winning the title of Higher Education Careers Employability Team of the Year at the 2024 target jobs National Graduate Recruitment Awards. With guaranteed work experience opportunities and personalised support, the team help students build their careers - so you can secure your degree as well as the skills and knowledge you need to get a head start.

For advice from those who know DMU best – our current students – you can listen to our new Let's Talk University podcast, where a range of guests discuss university life, support services and personal experiences.
