DMU Travel Incentive terms and conditions

We want your journey to our Open Day to be as straightforward as possible. The DMU Open Day Travel Support Scheme is designed to help eligible prospective undergraduate students with the cost of traveling to one of the following DMU Open Days:

  • Saturday 14 November 2026

1. Who can claim

To be eligible for travel support, you must:

  • have booked and attended one of the DMU undergraduate Open Days listed above in person
  • have a permanent address in the UK and have access to a UK bank account in your name.

Only the person who booked onto the event can make a claim. Guests and additional attendees are not eligible for payment.

Current DMU students are not eligible.

The scheme only applies to the undergraduate Open Days listed above. It does not apply to visits for any other purpose, including campus tours, interviews, school or college visits, or postgraduate events.

2. How much you can claim

Reimbursement is a fixed-rate allowance based on shortest driving distance determined by DMU, using postcodes provided at booking.

Eligible claims will be paid at the following rates:

  • £10 for journeys 0–25.0 miles
  • £20 for journeys 25.1–50.0 miles
  • £40 for journeys 50.1 miles or more

3. How to make a claim

You must check in when you arrive at the Open Day by entering the check-in code provided by DMU staff, or by registering with staff on arrival. Once your attendance has been confirmed, we will email you after the event with a link to the online claim form.

The form will ask for:

  • Full name
  • Email address used when registering for the event
  • UK home postcode and house number used when booking onto the event
  • Telephone number
  • UK Bank account details: account holder name, sort code and account number

Only one claim is permitted per registered household, per booking.

Claim forms must be submitted by:

  • Tuesday 24 November 2026, midnight for the open day held on Saturday 14 November 2026

We are unable to reimburse travel costs if the event is cancelled or if you do not attend.

DMU cannot process late claim submissions.

4. Confirming your attendance

  • To confirm your attendance, you must check in on arrival by entering the check-in code provided by DMU staff or by registering with staff.
  • If we cannot verify your attendance, we will not be able to process your claim.

5. Payment details

  • Payments are made by secure electronic transfer only.
  • We aim to process payments within one month of the claim.
  • No cash payments will be issued.
  • Payments can only be made to a UK bank account in the claimant’s name.
  • If any details do not match, we may need to carry out additional checks before payment can be made.

6. Checking claims and preventing misuse

  • Distance is calculated using the shortest road route between your home postcode and LE2 7DP using AA Route Planner or an equivalent tool selected by DMU. DMU's distance calculation is final.
  • Duplicate bookings and claims that appear unusual may be reviewed.
  • We reserve the right to ask for additional evidence, such as proof of address.
  • Claims found to be inaccurate or fraudulent will not be paid.

7. Changes to the scheme

  • DMU reserves the right to alter, suspend, or withdraw the scheme or update these terms and conditions at any time.
  • DMU’s decision about eligibility and payment is final.
