Nursing Associate Programme Modules

First year

  • Professional Values and Scope of Practice – concentrates on the values, responsibilities and scope of practice of the Nursing Associate role as a well-informed practitioner
  • Delivering Care – focuses on supporting Registered Nurses and other appropriate healthcare professionals to plan and deliver effective nursing care in a range of specialities
  • Person Centred Approaches to Care – considers the patient journey including person centred assessment, care planning strategies and recognising when care needs to be adapted
  • Communications and Inter-Personal Skills – explores the importance of communication and interpersonal skills for delivering and improving health and care services
  • Work Based Learning Portfolio – provides opportunities to practice and apply a range of knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviours learned in year 1 to a variety of work based environments

Second year

  • Duty of Care and Candour – concentrates on the application of principles related to the duty of care, the duty of candour and the principles of equality and diversity
  • Team Working and Leadership – provides opportunities to explore and apply the underpinning principles of leadership and working with others within the boundaries of their role
  • Research, Development and Innovation – develops an appreciation of the part that research and development plays across the practice area and the wider health and care landscape
  • Supporting Learning and Assessment in Practice – considers the principles of teaching, learning and assessment and their application in educating patients and carers in healthcare settings
  • Work Based Learning Portfolio – provides opportunities to practice and apply a range of knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviours learned in year 2 to a variety of work based environments
