What is a Residency?
Rachel Granger is happy to announce the first open call for the 2018 creative start-up residency programme. Leicester is a city known for its vibrant creative culture and known nationally, as an influential creative hub. In awarding a residency to one creative graduate at De Montfort University, the intention is to empower a talented graduate to spend 9 months on a personal creative journey, which will lead to a professional career in the creative industries, and a sustainable business.
Leicester Cultural Quarter has so much to offer people embarking on creative careers and it seems only fitting that the residency should be at the heart of this vibrant community. Our intention is to provide the hands-on support that individuals need to become successful in the creative industries, starting with practical postgraduate training in the creative industries and leading to a follow-up residency that places graduates at the heart of the creative industries. The residency provides the space and support to enable creative graduates to individually flourish whilst also continuing to learn from the close interaction with experts in Leicester’s Cultural Quarter.
As Rachel Granger, Programme Lead for Creative Industries at Leicester Castle Business School states: Leicester Castle Business School has a reputation for being proactive and innovative, and this exciting residency, which is the first of its kind in the city and in universities, will amount to a 21-months combined learning programme in Leicester for the very best creative graduate, and an invaluable opportunity to realise a business goal for those with ambition to succeed in their field.
