Engineering Year Zero modules

Quantitative Methods

Develops the mathematical skills and techniques that you will need to study Engineering.  You will learn about mathematical theories and concepts, and their applications.

Mechanical Engineering Applications

Introduces you to the basic laws of mechanics and how to apply them to engineering problems. You will develop a clear understanding of the basic analytical principles of mechanical engineering. 

Electronic Engineering Applications

Introduces you to the basic laws of physics/electronic and from perspective of engineering problems. You will develop a clear understanding of the basic analytical principles of electrical engineering. 

Principles of Information and Communication 

Here you will learn how to use spreadsheets to find solutions to engineering problems, create reports and use HTML to design web pages. You will also be introduced to MATrix LABoratory software.

Academic Study Skills

Introduces students to some of the core academic study skills needed within Engineering to ensure the students achieve the relevant experience and practice before starting an undergraduate degree or employment. These core study skills include scientific writing, critical reading and presentation skills. Students will also be introduced to the skills needed to plan and manage research projects. 

Design and Technology

Will introduce you to basic design principles via an industry-standard Computer Aided Design (CAD) software package, which you will use to create 3D solid models.
