Open Days at DMU Leicester

Saturday 14 November 9am - 3pm

If your child is thinking about university, there’s no better way to get a feel for what student life could look like than by attending a De Montfort University (DMU) Leicester Open Day together.

As well as finding out more about your child’s course through talks, taster sessions and meeting current students, you can take a tour of our vibrant campus and speak to our teams about the practical things that matter to you as a parent, from accommodation and finance to safety, travel and student support.

Plan your open day journey

A visit to DMU can help you and your child feel more confident about their university choice. Your child can explore their course and get a taste of student life, while you can use the day to explore, ask questions and find out everything you need to know for their future.

Make the most of your DMU Open Day together

When you book your place, the person who makes the booking will receive a digital Open Day Guide with the full timetable of talks, tours and activities. Take the time to view this in advance of your visit to make sure you know what’s happening on the day and plan your time around the things that are most important to you and your child.

Arrive and check in

From 9am

When you arrive, head to the Welcome Talk or any faculty building to check in. Our student ambassadors will be there to welcome you and help you find your way around.

9:25-10am

Hear from our Vice-Chancellor about what makes DMU different, what your child can expect from their university experience and the support available to them throughout their time here.
Explore your child's course

All day

Join subject talks and taster sessions, meet the lecturers who’ll be teaching your child and find out more about their course. You’ll also have chance to ask questions about modules, placements and career opportunities, helping you understand what their university experience could look like.
Tour the campus

9am-2:30pm

Explore the teaching spaces, specialist facilities, workshops and study areas your child could use during their time at DMU. It’s a great opportunity to get a feel for the campus and the environment they’ll be studying in.

There are places to eat and drink during your Open Day, including our new campus lounge, Monty’s, and Saints of Mokha, offering coffee and refreshments. You can purchase food on campus or bring your own lunch to enjoy during the day.
Visit student accommodation

All day

Take a look around our student accommodation, compare room types and see where your child will live during their university journey. Find out more about costs, payment options, facilities, security and the location of accommodation, including how close it is to campus, shops and transport links. If you have any questions, our team will be happy to help during the tour or at the Accommodation Hub in the Campus Centre.

Get more from your Open Day

While your child is excited about the possibilities ahead, you’ll also have questions about the practicalities. This is your chance to find out more about the things that matter to you.

Careers, placements and employability

Visit the Careers Hub, located in Hugh Aston building to find out how we support students with placements, internships and their career plans, both during their studies and after graduation. It’s a chance to understand the opportunities available to your child and ask any questions you may have. This is your chance to learn more about our Guaranteed Offer of Employment for every graduate*, designed to help your child take their next step with confidence. It’s a chance to understand the opportunities available and ask any questions you may have.
Finance and funding

Understanding the cost of university is an important part of planning for your child’s future. Head to the Campus Centre to chat to our Finance team and find out more about the financial side of student life, including the costs your child may need to budget for, what financial support is available and where you can get advice.
Student support

It’s natural to have questions about how your child will be supported at university. Use the Open Day to find out about support for their studies, wellbeing and settling in, and discuss any additional needs, from disability and health to religious or personal circumstances. Head to the Campus Centre to find out more about student support.
