The UK's Best University for Work Experience two years in a row **
We work closely with a wide range of industry partners to ensure our courses reflect the needs of today’s employers. Through these collaborations, students gain valuable opportunities to build real-world experience alongside their studies.
This approach means our graduates leave ready to thrive in the modern workplace with many securing roles in the careers they’ve been working towards.
A recent study by London Economics found that more than half of DMU graduates choose to build their careers in the East Midlands and that they are earning around a third more than those who choose not to go to university at all.
Setting them up for life after university
Our courses are designed with input from industry experts, meaning what your child learns, and the skills they build, will be relevant to their future career.
Many courses are accredited by professional bodies ensuring the latest industry practice is learned, with some courses offering the opportunity to work on live industry briefs.
From science laboratories and art studios to a Trading Floor and a £6.5M Digital Tech Hub, our facilities use the latest technologies and industry-standard equipment.
Guaranteed work experience
Your child will have guaranteed work experience opportunities as part of their course, giving them the experience employers are looking for. They will be able to take advantage of our strong industry relationships with big employers and opportunities for placement years/internships which earn credits towards their degree.
As well as our multi-award winning careers team, students voted us the Best University for Work Experience in the 2024 and 2025 RateMyPlacement awards, highlighting our commitment to delivering exceptional support and valuable industry experience.
Award-winning Careers Team
Our Careers Team will give your child tailored support and advice with resources including virtual interview practice, workshops, bootcamps, employer talks, and one-to-one career coaching.
They’ll have unlimited access to digital tools including LinkedIn Learning courses, self-assessments, and instant CV feedback through the Careers Team Skills Hub. The team also offers lifelong careers support, even after graduation.
Enterprise and entrepreneurship
If your child is something of an entrepreneur, DMU’s Enterprise and Entrepreneurship team can support them with events, programmes, mentors, and workshops.
DMU For Life
Once they’ve graduated, your child will have access to a community of alumni (former DMU students) where they can network, find job opportunities and mentors, and keep up to date with the latest business developments.
