Leading Leicester's fight back after the tragedy and devastation of Covid-19

SuLab

The city and communities of Leicester were, like the rest of the world, badly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and the economic aftermath.

But there was a determination to fight back from the onset – a campaign that was spearheaded by De Montfort University and Leicester City Council to Build Back Better.

The campaign led to more than 70 researchers, 60 community groups, representatives of 40 businesses and senior council officials working together with the public through a consultation programme.

The result was more than 250 ideas, issues and interventions that it was felt needed to be addressed in order for communities to recover and become stronger and more resilient.

These 250 ideas have been prioritised into a series of recommendations for future action in key recovery areas.
