Confucius Institute holds traditional costume workshopUntitled


On July 10th, USTB-DMU Confucius Institute held the first traditional Chinese costume experience workshop in the library of the Confucius Institute, to celebrate its ninth anniversary. The workshop was hosted by Liu Jia’ning, a teacher at the Confucius Institute. Some students who love Chinese culture participated in the activity.

To begin, Liu Jia’ning expounded on the evolution of Chinese traditional costumes from the Qin and Han dynasties to 1949, as well as the characteristics of costumes in each dynasty. Along with Liu's explanation, other CI teachers dressed in the corresponding forms of costumes and came on stage to show the details. The participants were deeply impressed by the charm of Chinese traditional garments. Liu also shared the special costume culture of some ethnic minorities, giving the participants a better understanding of China's diverse culture.

After the explanation, with the help of CI teachers, the on-site students actively selected their favourite costumes and changed into ancient styles. The students couldn't hide their love for the wide variety of Hanfu and asked for photos after dressing up, saying they were very happy to have the opportunity to experience traditional Chinese culture in their spare time.

As one of the series of activities to celebrate the 9th anniversary of the Confucius Institute, the traditional costume experience workshop vividly demonstrated the traditional Chinese costume culture, enabling students to have a deeper understanding of China. Additionally, it has enhanced the friendship between CI teachers and students and left a good memory for everyone.
