De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) is celebrating National Apprenticeship Week next week with a series of events aimed at employers and prospective apprentices.
DMU is one of the leading providers for apprenticeships in the region, drawing on decades of experience in providing vocational programmes tailored to business needs. There are some 698 learners enrolled on courses which combine on-the-job training with in-work mentoring and training days on campus.
During National Apprenticeship Week, which starts on Monday, DMU is hosting free virtual events to highlight the wide range of benefits that apprentices can bring to employers large and small.
The online events will enable employers to find out more about apprenticeships – from how they work in practice and the courses available, to the chance to hear from some of the companies already working with the university.
Tasmin Raynor, Head of Apprenticeships at DMU, said National Apprenticeship Week gives employers the perfect opportunity to find out how apprenticeships could benefit their business.
She said: “Apprenticeships are a great way to gain practical, on the job skills whilst earning a salary and studying towards a university award.
“Apprenticeships offer a combination of a real job, real training and a real salary, and offer a real alternative to the traditional college or university route for those who want to gain a higher education qualification.
“Not only can apprenticeships help you develop and upskill your workforce in a cost-effective manner, it increases retention by offering staff the chance to develop and progress. We’re also able to tailor apprentices’ learning to individual business requirements, which mean you can see benefits almost immediately.”
DMU’s events will give companies the chance to find out more about how apprenticeships work in practice, and ensure potential apprentices know what to expect.
