The Venue @DMU now 'Good to Go' after winning official benchmark

De Montfort University Leicester’s (DMU) main events venue has received official backing for safety after implementing social distancing and cleanliness measures.

The Venue@DMU has been given ‘Good to Go’ accreditation by Visit Britain, the UK’s official tourist board.

Following an extensive assessment, the location, known for hosting DMU’s graduations as well as a range of other events and celebrations has now been marked safe after adapting to Government guidelines, ahead of reopening next month.

The industry-standard ‘Good to Go’ mark also means The Venue is now part of a ‘ring of confidence’ and alert system which ensures everyone with the accreditation is notified if there are any changes to official guidelines.

The accreditation further highlights DMU’s commitment to safety following the substantial processes put in place to ensure safety of all staff, students and guests including hand sanitiser points, one-way systems and social distance signage.

Visit Britain is encouraging as many tourism and hospitality businesses as possible to go for this accreditation to raise confidence in the event industry. The scheme is free to join and open to all businesses across the sector.

Conference and Catering Assistant Manager, Ellie Ward said: “This accreditation is so import for DMU, we work internally as well as externally and it has been a hard few months being completely shut down.

“Following some extensive market research and speaking with clients the general feeling among everybody when people start looking to attend an event again is safety.

“Cost or location used to be top of the list, but in the current climate safety is now at the top and event organisers like ourselves want to be able to reassure everyone that it is safe to attend an event.”

The team at DMU is constantly working hard behind the scenes to get campus safe and ready to ensure campus safety.

Ellie continued: “The Venue is still currently closed; we are looking to open again in September which is exciting for everyone and a real turning point.

“It is important for people to feel safe, this accreditation further highlights the measures DMU are putting in place to make campus as safe as possible.”
