An incredible range of trips has been announced by De Montfort University Leicester’s (DMU) pioneering #DMUglobal scheme offering students international opportunities to experience everything from politics in Brussels to teaching in Bangkok.
We may be just about ready for some summer sun in Leicester, but the #DMUglobal team has already planned academic led trips around the globe to run from September to December this year.

There are more than 30 trips linked to academic programmes across all four faculties travelling to over 15 different countries worldwide. As always, the application process is competitive and the deadline to apply for opportunities is Monday 4 June 2018 9am.
#DMUglobal is the university’s pioneering scheme which now sees over 3,500 students go overseas annually, enriching participants studies, broadening cultural horizons and developing key graduate skills valued by employers.
Students learning about the politics of the European Union can visit the European Parliament, European Commission and Council of the European Union to deepen their knowledge of how EU politics work. As the UK is preparing for life after Brexit, this group of students will be able to interact with EU policymakers and gain a first-hand understanding of what it is like to take part in the EU decision-making process.
Other highlights include textile design students experiencing Bangalore, India, giving designers an understanding of international sourcing from manufacturing to traditional crafts and skills, which will include the practice of traditional craft embroidery techniques.
Nursing students will travel to Laurea University in Helsinki to cooperate with local Finnish students and visit health services there to facilitate a comparison of how Finnish healthcare provision differs to that of the UK.
Within the Faculty of Technology, undergraduate and postgraduate Computing students will visit the Institute for the Future in Cyprus and draft their own ideas for business computing applications, as well as having the opportunity to learn from experts in cryptocurrencies.
DMU Square Mile is also offering a unique experience to all students to teach English in Bangkok. The week-long visit will see DMU students running English workshops at a Bangkok primary school and have the chance to improve education for hundreds of children.
A further mass trip to Berlin will be launched on Monday 14 May for current first year undergraduate students, who will be moving into their second year in 2018/19 – further details will be released.
