Strong sustainability credentials have earned an Architecture graduate from De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) an impressive industry award.

Christopher Christophi was named the NextGen Rising Star for London and the South East, an award by the BCO (British Council for Offices) celebrating the achievements of young professionals under 35 years old.
Working as an associate at Perkins + Will’s London studio, a global architecture and design firm, Christopher’s project portfolio includes One Station Square, the firm’s first built UK project.
As project architect and architectural BIM (Building Information Modelling) manager for One Station Square, a commercial development in Cambridge rated BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) Excellent, Christopher was involved in every aspect from design and 3D-modelling to construction and liaising with contractors.
The 30-year-old from London said: “I feel extremely honoured to have won the BCO NextGen Rising Star Award, which is an important industry programme that recognises and supports the next generation of young architects in the UK.
“I have had the most incredible opportunity to work on some great projects throughout my career and it feels fantastic to be recognised for my achievements and hard work to date.”

Christopher spent seven years studying Architecture BA (Hons), Architecture MArch and Architectural Practice Postgraduate Diploma at DMU, graduating in 2012.
He said: “DMU really sets you up for the future and the year-long work placement I did during my MArch was invaluable.
“The quality of graduates and their education is under a lot of criticism within the industry at the moment, but DMU gives you both the creative and technical skills you need to succeed.
“That’s why I love DMU.”

“He regularly participates in design competitions and his work has been published and exhibited internationally, including at the Royal Academy of Arts and in a number of respected design and media publications.
“His professionalism and commitment has secured his reputation as a future industry leader, and we’re proud to see this recognised at one of our industry’s most esteemed award ceremonies.”
Christopher is now leading one of Perkins + Will’s architecture projects, 150 Holborn, a 185,000 sq ft commercial HQ building in London.
Thanks to his LEED Green Associate accreditation, Christopher also supports Perkins + Will’s Head of Sustainability on its annual certification.
