Record numbers of students are choosing to study at De Montfort University Leicester (DMU), according to the latest figures.
DMU is one of the top 10 most popular universities in the UK after seeing a huge rise in acceptances from UK and EU students in 2016.
And the university has also maintained its position among the UK’s top 10 fastest–growing universities with more UK and EU students than ever before studying here.
A report compiled by UCAS shows that, out of all UK universities, DMU had the eighth largest number of new students from home and EU, and also had the eighth biggest rise in UK and EU students accepted onto courses compared to 2015.
Over the past two years, DMU has seen its acceptances from UK students rise by more than 25%. Acceptances from EU students have risen 75% on 2015.
Melanie Fowler, Director of Marketing and Communications, said DMU was enjoying an exceptional period of achievement. It had been named among the world’s top 150 ‘young’ universities and has won national plaudits for its international strategy.
She added: “DMU’s global focus has captured students’ imagination and they are keen to seize the opportunities provided through our award-winning #DMUglobal programme. Just last month we took 1,000 students to New York where they took part in academic activities that brought their studies to life.
“Closer to home DMU has evolved into one of the finest city centre campuses in the UK. Our purpose-built home for Arts and Design, the Vijay Patel building, is attracting a wealth of creative and talented students.
“It is incredible to see DMU performing so strongly on top of last year’s outstanding recruitment outcome.”
Biological Sciences, Business and Administration, and subjects allied to medicine were among the top choices in 2016. DMU also saw sharp rises in the numbers of students accepting offers to study Law and Architecture.
