Exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of DMU's TV advert
The new advert from De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) was filmed over the summer and a new video provides an exclusive glimpse of what went on behind the scenes.
Our video shows the action behind the camera starting with footage from the successful new advert and time-lapse shots as the crew set up scenes on campus.
There are insights from key members of the team, including the students and graduates who starred in the 60-second and 30-second versions.
Max Fisher directs the advert and he gives some insight into the way he worked to bring the concept to life and we see Max working with students to put them at ease during filming.
Max said: “I always use real people in my films, I think if you cast real people and make films about their emotions then that’s a very resonant type of advert.”
Behind-the-scenes footage offers a snapshot of scenes that weren’t featured in the final edits and expands on sections to show the depth of the advert.
It becomes clear how nerve-racking some of the scenes were for students as they were asked to reproduce their daring moment.
One of the highlights of the video features Jessica Okoro explaining how emotional filming was for her and why it meant so much.
She said: “I’m feeling really emotional because during the advert filming I started to remember all the experiences that me and the team have gone through to get to where we are now.”
There is footage of the crew during filming and the stars of the advert explain their highlights of the shoot and why they chose to get involved.
The video features shots from the paint scene in the advert showing the creative process, as well as extended scenes from Jessica’s talk highlighting the important personal aspect to her presentation.
There are shots of the football team preparing to shoot their scenes and spending time in the King Power changing rooms as well as extra footage from the India shoot.
The video ends on the same scene as the TV advert when Wes Bingwa performs a dance routine he choreographed himself on the rooftop of DMU’s Gateway House.
