They were rated third in the country for overall satisfaction in the National Student Survey (NSS) 2016 and number one - out of 116 universities offering similar courses - for the sense of personal development students felt.

In addition, The Times and Sunday Times University Guide 2017 ranked them fourth for teaching quality and seventh for student experience.

Students and graduates credit the lecturers' passion for their areas of research and the confidence instilled in them with being behind these great results for courses including Psychology, Psychology with Education Studies and Psychology with Criminology.

She said: "The lecturers are so passionate about their area of expertise that it inspires students to work harder and value their feedback.

"The staff believe in you and want you to succeed, for me that made the course more enjoyable. I became more determined and motivated as a result of their confidence in me."

He said: "I think there are many great things about being a Psychology student here that explain our success.

"First, we have a really approachable and very organised group of staff who work hard as a team to place students at the heart of all that they do.

"We like to see our students and student representatives as partners with shared goals - we want the very best for students and we listen to, and work with, them to make sure their time at DMU is rewarding and enjoyable.

"In addition, our Psychology programmes carry professional body accreditation and we have excellent dedicated facilities to support our teaching, both of which are highly valued by students.

"And finally, we must not forget our amazing university-wide initiatives such as #DMUglobal and #DMUlocal, which ensure that students can access fantastic opportunities working in the local community and overseas."
