De Montfort University’s (DMU) Leicester International Pathway College (LIPC) has seen a surge in the number of students enrolling from around the world.
There has been a 50 per cent rise on last year’s numbers, proving how valuable the support LIPC provides is for international students starting their degrees at DMU.
LIPC opened in the summer of 2014, helping to prepare international students for entry onto DMU degree programmes. This September, 213 students enrolled, compared to the 142 students who enrolled in September 2015. LIPC is expecting up to a further 80 students to enrol for its next intake in January 2017.

At LIPC, international students can start an undergraduate or postgraduate degree with specially designed academic modules and English language support.
Yun Zhang from China continued to the second year of his Business and Management BA (Hons) degree after successful completion of the International First Year in Business and Management.
He said: "The best part about studying at LIPC are the teachers. They focus on every students’ needs, teaching us with great patience and are always happy to help us."
Since the launch in summer 2014, LIPC has supported students to successfully continue to degree courses in their chosen subjects, notably twins Hasan and Husain Banafa, from Saudi Arabia who won joint LIPC Student of the Year Awards in 2015.
A full 95 per cent of the 207 students who successfully completed their LIPC courses in 2015-16 have successfully continued to their DMU degree programmes, with 62 per cent of those pursuing business-related degree courses.
