Securing a paid internship with a world-famous fashion retailer is a dream come true for a recent Graphic Design graduate from De Montfort University Leicester (DMU).
Looking proud on graduation day
Just weeks into her digital design internship at AllSaints in London, which has the potential to be extended after six months, Krupa Mistry has already had the chance to work across a number of exciting projects.
From global presentations for the CEO to designing web banners and concepts for online packaging, Krupa has enjoyed discovering how a brand works in the ‘real world’.
The 22-year-old, who graduated from DMU this summer, said: “I’ve basically got my dream job!
“In the short time here I’ve learnt a lot and will continue to do so with a focus on my future goals. I’ve been very lucky in the opportunity to discover who I can grow to be as a designer in the future.”
Krupa felt well-prepared for her interview thanks to support from her tutors and opportunities during her course to work on live briefs with local design studios, attend inspiring workshops with industry professionals and experience working in a studio environment.
Her own extensive experience of retail work since the age of 16 also gave Krupa the edge during her interview.

Working for top brands like Laura Ashley and Pandora provided her an excellent understanding of retail aspects ranging from customer demand to visual merchandising.
It also resulted in Krupa’s design work being heavily influenced by fashion and making her the perfect candidate for AllSaints.
Following her interview, she was told that her presentation and confidence factored into the team’s decision to offer her the position.
She said: “I always had days at uni when I would say I'm never going to get anywhere, but here I am. Now I've done it I want more! I have learnt so much and I’m always learning from people around me.”
Krupa spent four years at DMU, starting with an Art and Design Foundation before embarking on her Graphic Design BA (Hons).

During those years she has particularly valued her tutors’ industry experience and links, saying: “The tutors were always there to guide me and listen to my crazy ideas - I did have some crazy ideas!
“What I realised though is that you have to push yourself to be greater and you have to put in the work.”
Chris Tatlock, Senior Digital Designer at AllSaints and Krupa’s manager, said: “As a former graduate from DMU and knowing the high requirement of candidates we were blown away by the high standard of Krupa’s work.
“I feel, however, it was her positive attitude that won us over and makes her an excellent addition to our team. I know one day she will be a wonderfully influential designer.”
