See the country's most improved university in action at Open Day

Football skills, dance performances and lessons on building a racing car will all be on offer to people attending this weekend's open day at De Montfort University Leicester (DMU).

It will be an opportunity for future students to get up close and personal with the university currently on TV and cinemas screens across the country.

On Saturday, 19 September, visitors to the campus can see for themselves why DMU was named not only the most improved university in the UK according to the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2015 league table but also top 25 for employability according to the annual Destination of Leavers from Higher Education survey.

Interested visitors could take part in a chat on film studies, catch a demonstration of world-class scientific research, see a dance performance and see how to build a racing car in the space of a few hours.

On Hawthorn Square, DMU sports teams will be showing off their skills, with regular demonstration of football, tae-kwon-do and lacrosse.

The De Montfort Students' Union (DSU) will be giving a talk just after midday, explaining its role and painting a picture of Leicester life and the wide roster of societies, clubs and activities DSU puts on throughout the year.

Mel Fowler, Director of Marketing and Communications, said: "There is no better way for future students to see what we have on offer here at DMU than to come along for one of our open days.

"As the most improved university in the country, we have so many inspiring and ambitious projects here with a local, national and global reach.

"We pride ourselves on our outstanding student experience. But don't just take our word for it; come and see for yourself."
