The impact of regionalism and analysis of Britain’s Coalition Government are among the issues examined in the latest edition of a book co-edited by a De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) academic.
Alistair Jones, of DMU’s Department of Politics and Public Policy, has just published the fourth edition of Contemporary British Politics and Government, with co-author Phil Cocker.
Writing began shortly after the 2010 General Election and the new edition reflects the changing political landscape.
It covers a significantly larger amount of material than previous editions – including specific chapters on Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and English regionalism, as well as citizenship, participation and redress.
Mr Jones said: “The book is geared for A-level and undergraduate students, but not just Politics students. There is material in the book for those studying business – a chapter on regulation and two on equality issues, for example.
“There are historical chapters which examine how Britain has changed politically, socially and economically in the post-second world war era. Four years in the writing, this book was a labour of love.”
