The WhatUni survey is based upon student reviews across categories including courses and lecturers; students’ union, accommodation, facilities, clubs and societies, job prospects and life in the city.

More than 20,000 students have rated their university for the WhatUni league table which is drawn up using the average rating given by the students.
DMU was given an overall score of 4.2 out of 5, achieving its best scores in facilities, courses and lecturers as well as city life.

In the survey, one Footwear Design student wrote: “Love it! The best thing about the course is the design aspect and the support we get from tutors.”

A Media Production student added: “The uni itself is always changing whether its construction or events.

“It has a good sense of creativity and has good connections with businesses, in my case it has good connections with the BBC. I have met some fantastic people here through halls and through the course.”

Another wrote: “Amazing! The lecturers are all great as is the SU [students’ union]. My favourite thing to do in Leicester is to go to the theatres. The gym and library here are both great.”

It is the first time that DMU has been featured in the survey. Universities must have at least 100 reviews on the site to be included. Overall 113 universities were ranked.
