Investing in women: a human rights issue
Gender equality continues to be the greatest human rights challenge facing our world. According to its latest 2023 Gender Snapshot Report, the UN highlights that deeply rooted biases against women and girls continue to hold them back in health, education, employment and the halls of power. Investing in women is a human rights imperative and the cornerstone for building strong, inclusive and peaceful communities. Progress for women benefits everyone and is critical to our future.
Investing in women: entrepreneurship, management and sustainability
The global business landscape is being reshaped by women entrepreneurs; despite the main challenges they face. They are overcoming cultural barriers and shifting mindsets to challenge and eliminate stereotypes. Men are playing an important role as allies and supporting the empowerment of women and girls.
Women are starting businesses and creating solutions for a better world. These businesses are as diverse as the challenges we are facing, ranging from sustainable fashion and textile technologies, clean energy, health and well-being, AI and information technology and beyond.
This event celebrates women entrepreneurs who are striving for a balance between finding economic and financial success and responsibility to their local environments and communities. These women are driving green economies and fostering innovation that balances the needs of people, planet and profit.
These women are change-makers and in the process writing narratives of empowerment, resilience and leadership, which are necessary for successful climate action. From grassroots activism to their work in science, engineering, technology, pharma and food industry, hospitals and fashion houses, women are developing solutions through a Framework for action and a passion for climate justice. In doing so, they show other women and girls how to be more self-sufficient and assertive about their rights.
This online event will gather academics, and women leaders from our Transnational Education partnerships across the world and offer a platform for the sharing of best practices, co-creation and acceleration of solutions for a more equal and balanced world for all.
