Description
The Challenge of the Future: The quality of life for coming generations

De Montfort University (DMU) is pleased to be hosting a discussion which explores the opportunities and anxieties faced by Millennials, Gen Z and everyone of us with an interest in the future. Some opinion polls suggest that there has been a decline in optimism around expectations for the future. A range of issues, including climate change, equity, diversity and inclusion in society, projections of the future standard of living, and trust in political leadership have been blamed for this shift, any of which may enter into this evening's conversation.

The event is organised by the American Politics Group of the UK Political Studies Association with support from the US Embassy, London and the British Association for American Studies. It is part of a travelling series which addresses issues facing the US and UK in domestic, trans-Atlantic and global contexts.

Tea and coffee will be served on arrival from 5.30pm and the event will start at 6pm. The discussion will finish at 7.30pm and will be followed by a drinks reception.

We will be welcoming the following speakers:

Femi Oluwole, co-founder of Our Future, Our Choice.

Femi has been recognised in recent years as a powerful commentator on political and social developments in the UK, appearing on radio, TV, writing in major outlets, and becoming a constant social media presence.

Ernest Paicopolos, Founder and CEO, Polity Research Consulting LLC.

Ernest has had a remarkable career in US public opinion research, from advising on Jimmy Carter's re-election campaign, through a career providing research to scores of clients in a wide range of businesses, trade associations, government agencies, political campaigns, non-profits and non-governmental organisations as well as supervising political polling for a number of television stations and newspapers.

This event is open to all and bookings will close 1 hour prior to the start of the event.

Please contact the DMU Events Office on eventsoffice@dmu.ac.uk if you have any questions.

We hope you will be able to join us for what promises to be an interesting evening.
