Description

The conference looks to bring conversation into an area that lacks research and practice in leadership, management, and organisation studies for Highly Skilled Migrant Women (HSMW). Highly skilled migrant women may appear privileged regarding education and capabilities; however, research shows that this juxtaposition leaves them at risk of career stagnation and facing barriers due to gendered norms and ethnicised labour market conditions. This conference places a spotlight on HSMW who have travelled and are now making a considerable contribution to their host economies, providing essential services that might have buckled without their help. Specifically, highly skilled migrant women’s gendered experiences and identity reconstruction. This virtual conference brings together HQHSM women, other professionals, and interested associates for a one-day knowledge exchange.

Keynote speakers include:

  • Professor Udy Archibong MBE
  • Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion at the University of Bradford
  • Dr Mercy Mumba from the University of Alabama, USA
  • Dr Justus Masa from Ruhr-Universität, Germany
  • Councillor Ashiedu Joel
