Description

The Anti-Racism Series is hosting a round of online speed lectures entitled ‘Race and Sport’.

Whether boxing, FIFA gaming, ‘gentlemanly’ cricket or ‘the beautiful game’ of football – race continues to permeate the sport and are finally being discussed on a national scale.

Join us as a group of well-respected researchers, from across the UK, discuss a range of race-related issues as they apply to various disciplines of sport, including:

- Dr Duncan Stone - The cauldron of class conflict, racial hierarchy, and male chauvinism that lies at the heart of cricket

- Dr Paul Ian Campbell - Constructions of race in FIFA-football video games

- Professor Panikos Panayi - The history of the ‘foreign’ footballer in London

- Dr David Dee - The perceived ‘colour-blindness’ in boxing

- Dr Daniel Kilvington - The worrying growth of online racism in football

- Dr Chris Elsey - Public mental health disclosure narratives in professional sports

Bookings will close 1 hour prior to the start of the event, and registrants will receive a link to join the online event 24hrs before the event, via their provided email address.
