This event is part of #DMUpride, to mark LGBTQ+ History Month 

This panel event brings together LGBTQ+ researchers who currently work in a higher education institution or have recently left a HEI. The event will explore the experiences of LGBTQ+ researchers in ‘research cultures’ and the positive changes that can be identified. It will also discuss how Universities/HEIs/research organisations can continue their work on inclusivity within these spaces. Panellists will be invited to share their experiences and their thoughts on these topics as well as raise questions.  

Panel members: 

  • Dr Gavin Brown - Visiting Professor at University College Dublin and University of Sheffield (he/him) 
  • Jodie Hannis – current PhD student at University of Leicester, studying archaeology (she/her) 
  • Astra Sword – current PhD student at Open University, studying Physics Education (she/her) 
  • Elizabeth Short – current MA student at NUA in Norwich, studying Sound and Moving Image (she/her) 
  • Carol Leeming MBE – DMU Lecturer Creative Industries, Multi-disciplinary Artist & Independent researcher 

Places can be booked up to 1 hour before the start of the event. Registrants will receive a link to join the session 24 hours before the event.
