Description

You can’t stop the waves, but you can learn to surf.’― Jon Kabat-Zinn

Paying more attention to your thoughts and feelings and to the world around can improve your mental wellbeing. Some people call this awareness ‘mindfulness’.

Learning to focus on the here and now can help to improve concentration. Regular mindful practice can boost our feelings of wellbeing, helping to manage the distractions in our day to day life, needed now more than ever in the current pandemic.

During #DMUpride, marking LGBTQ+ History Month, we are providing you with the opportunity to take part in an online mindfulness session. Whether you have never attended a session before or you are experienced in the practice, this event is open to everyone. The official theme for LGBTQ+ History Month is Body, Mind, Spirit and the session aims to help us focus on some of those areas.

This session will be led by Natalie McKeown, Welfare Policy and Projects Manager and Mindfulness Practitioner at De Montfort University (DMU) and will give you the opportunity to give the mind and body a break by following a guided body scan relaxation.

Places can be booked up to 1 hour before the start of the event.

Registrants will receive a link to join the session 2 days before the event, via their provided email address.
