Join the Disabled Staff Network for a coffee and catch up on the UN International Day of Persons with Disabilities, on Friday 3 December, 12pm – 12.50pm, via MS teams.

The meeting will be an informal and friendly catch up to recognise the UN International Day of Persons with Disabilities, and provide staff with an opportunity to get involved. The DSN would also like to help give staff the confidence to disclose to DMU if they have a disability.

Places can be booked up to 1 hour before the start of the event.

Registrants will receive a link to join the session 2 days before the event, via their provided email address.

Part of the Disability History Month schedule of events.

UN International Day of Persons with Disabilities #PurpleLightUp

To mark the UN International Day of Persons with Disabilities and recognise #PurpleLightUp, DMU will be lighting up Trinity House in purple.

The International Day of Persons with Disabilities has been observed and promoted by the United Nations (UN) since 1992. The day aims to raise awareness of people with disabilities, as well as support their dignity and rights, and increase understanding of disability issues.

As a mark of respect for the UN International Day of Persons with Disabilities, #PurpleLightUp is a global movement that celebrates and raises awareness of the economic contribution that the 386 million disabled employees around the world have made.

We would also like to encourage you all to wear purple on the day and please do feel free to share your pictures with us on social media via DMU’s Twitter (@dmuleicester and @equalitydmu) and Instagram (dmuleicester).
