World United Nations Day: Ambassador Macharia Kamau, co-designer of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, Keynote Speech and Q+A plus Launch of Sustainable DMU.

Join us on the eve of World United Nations Day to celebrate De Montfort University’s commitment to 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals with a keynote speech and Question and Answer session with Ambassador Macharia Kamau.

Ambassador Kamau is widely regarded as one of the co-designers of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), having served as Vice President of the 67th Session of the UN General Assembly, Co-Chair of the General Assembly Working Group on the  (SDGs) (2012-2014) and co-facilitator of the post 2015 Development Agenda (2014-2015). He serves as Principal Secretary in Kenya’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs 

DMU, as United Nations Academic Impact Hub for SDG16, is serious about inspiring young people and researchers about the global goals and the significance of implementing them. To underline this commitment Ambassador Kamau will also be launching DMU’s sustainability strategy:  Sustainable DMU that combines research excellence, innovative thinking and ambitious plans for our estates and campus linked to the 17 UN SDGs. Having Ambassador Kamau as a guest and keynote speaker will inspire staff and students to act for SDGs in the Decade of Action.

Ambassador Kamau has authored several articles and is the co-author a book titled: Transforming Multilateral Diplomacy: the inside story of the Sustainable Development Goals.
