“It’s just your hormones”: Gender-based health inequalities and inequities
Many women experience significant challenges in obtaining a prompt, correct diagnosis and appropriate management for a range of different acute and chronic health conditions. There is also evidence that health-related outcomes are poorer for women experiencing certain conditions than men. Nicola will explore the background behind some of these gender-based differences, particularly drawing on the experience of women gaining appropriate and equitable treatment for Pernicious Anaemia. She will also challenge attendees to consider whether their personal attitudes could be perpetuating some of these issues.
